WELCOME TO THE MAGIC APOSTROPHE HOME PAGE |

I’ve been a writer since I was 8 years
old and I’m still at it, aged, well, never mind. I write to
entertain myself as much as my readers, if I’m honest. My characters
take over and I go along for the ride until – well – they get
off! I’ve been fortunate enough to win the Tir
na n-Og Award twice and
have also been short-listed for it six times, more than any other Welsh
author. As well as being a writer, I'm also
an enthusiastic tutor. I return to Wales from my home in Brittany
two or three times a year to visit schools and libraries to help children –
and teachers, during twilight sessions and INSET days – discover the joys of
creative writing. I've tutored a week-long course at Ty Newydd, the Taliesin Trust National writing centre in
North Wales, facilitated many adult education courses at various
centres. I’m proud to support the charity “World of Words
Wales”. Rob Jones, who runs it, offers through WOW a well-being
programme using literacy and language to build confidence and self-esteem
amongst Welsh children. I have also worked in Northern Irish
schools and some English schools on the Welsh borders. You will
find Rob’s contact details on the “What’s New” page.
